Amanda Williams - Principal
Amanda Williams is honored and excited to serve as principal of Talbot Community School. Throughout her career, she has pursued opportunities to learn alongside students, educators, and communities with a wide range of experiences and perspectives spanning two decades: from large urban schools in Savannah, Georgia, and in Providence, Rhode Island, to the Rhode Island School for the Deaf and educational work in the Marshall Islands.
Those experiences have shaped her belief that every child can succeed when schools combine strong relationships with exceptional teaching and a deep understanding of how students learn. Her work has centered on supporting both learners and educators through instructional leadership, professional learning, curriculum development, and school improvement.
Amanda's graduate studies have strengthened that work. With advanced study in educational leadership, English as a Second Language, the neuroscience of teaching and learning, and a doctorate in Educational Psychology, she is passionate about translating research into meaningful classroom practice so that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Outside of school, Amanda enjoys hiking, gardening, exploring the Maine coast, and spending time with family. She is grateful to be part of the Talbot community and looks forward to learning and growing alongside its students, families, and staff.
Kristin Rogers - Assistant Principal
After spending the last three years as the community coordinator at Talbot Community School, Kristin Rogers stepped into a new role as Talbot’s assistant principal as of July 1, 2024. Prior to her time at Talbot, Kristin was a ninth-grade social studies teacher at Portland High School, and worked at the REAL School on Mackworth Island. She has served as part of the district Social Studies Curriculum team, re-opening team, and was a graduate assistant in the Education Leadership program at USM. Kristin has also coached in Portland for over a decade and looks forward to continuing to coach field hockey for the Portland/Deering co-op high school team. She loves the people at Talbot (students, families, staff, and the surrounding community) and is excited to continue to work with them all in a new capacity.
Kristin holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Africana studies from Bowdoin College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Southern Maine. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, being in nature, and spending time with her family.
