Terry Young - Principal

Terrence Young, Principal, Talbot Community School: Terry has been working in public schools for 28 years, nine of which have been with the Portland Public Schools. He most recently served as the district’s Executive Director of Operations and before that was the principal of Longfellow Elementary School.

Prior to joining the district, Terry was a principal in Saco and an assistant principal in Auburn. He taught elementary and middle school in Massachusetts and Maine for 10 years. In Portland, Terry has been a member of the Teacher Evaluation Steering Committee and the planning team for professional development for school leaders. He has also served as a mentor for administrators who are new to Portland. After a year working in the district office, Terry looks forward to returning to school leadership as the new principal of the Talbot Community School. 


Kristin Rogers - Assistant Principal

HAfter spending the last three years as the community coordinator at Talbot Community School, Kristin Rogers stepped into a new role as Talbot’s assistant principal as of July 1, 2024. Prior to her time at Talbot, Kristin was a ninth-grade social studies teacher at Portland High School, and worked at the REAL School on Mackworth Island. She has served as part of the district Social Studies Curriculum team, re-opening team, and was a graduate assistant in the Education Leadership program at USM. Kristin has also coached in Portland for over a decade and looks forward to continuing to coach field hockey for the Portland/Deering co-op high school team. She loves the people at Talbot (students, families, staff, and the surrounding community) and is excited to continue to work with them all in a new capacity.

Kristin holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Africana studies from Bowdoin College and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Southern Maine. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, being in nature, and spending time with her family.
