Twenty Portland Public Schools employees are retiring this year. The retirees were honored by the Portland Board of Public Education and the district in a ceremony on June 9, 2026. Those recognized have served throughout the district and held a wide variety of roles in service of students and families. The school year retirees include a school principal, a social worker, teachers, Food Service members, educational technicians, a secretary and a custodian, among others.

“We know at the Portland Public Schools that we are only as good as the staff we have in front of our students, on our buses and in our cafeterias,” Superintendent Ryan Scallon said at the ceremony. “We are unbelievably grateful for everybody who’s given anywhere from one year to their whole career in the Portland Public Schools. I want to thank you very much for everything you’ve given to the district and to our students.”
