November 1, 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Can you believe that it is already November? The school year is going strong at Talbot! Teachers have been busy over the last two months creating welcoming classroom communities while implementing our rigorous curriculum. Students have settled into learning routines in their classrooms and are meeting school wide expectations with increasing success. November means it is time for Parent/Teacher Conferences! At Talbot, we are excited to return to Student Led Parent Teacher Conferences which will be in person this year. Conferences are a great time for your child to share with you what they have been learning since school began. Conferences will be held November 17th and 18th. On both days, lunch will be served and students will be dismissed at 11:10. We hope to have 100% of our parents/guardians attend conferences this year. Please call Talbot at 874-8210 if you need to schedule or reschedule your child’s conference time.
Community Resource Fair
Talbot Community School will be hosting a Resource Fair on Thursday, November 17th from 12:00pm to 4 pm in the school cafeteria. The event will give families in the community the chance to drop in and get items like fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing, and winter boots. There will also be community partners from various organizations there to share information about current and future programming, upcoming events, and available services. Partners will include the Locker Project, Greater Portland Health and Dental, Portland Housing Authority, Gateway Community Services, and more.
Lost and Found
Just a friendly reminder that while you are at Talbot for the Parent Teacher conference, to please check the Lost and Found for any of your child’s missing items. Lost and Found is located toward the back of the front lobby.
Halloween Candy
Just a friendly reminder that students should not bring Halloween candy to school. Talbot participates in the 5-2-1-0 program which means we promote healthy, non-sugary snacks. Nurse Lynn and I thank you for keeping candy at home.
Talbot Teachers Rock!
Finally, I would like to take a moment to give a shout out to our incredibly talented teachers and staff at Talbot School. All learning begins with the most important person in the classroom, the teacher. Our teachers are constantly pushing themselves to learn new and innovative ways to reach students and raise achievement. Talbot teachers and staff are committed to working collaboratively to support students at all levels and to provide engaging instruction for all learners. Please take time to make sure to let your child’s teacher know how much you appreciate the work they do.
